Teddy Bears to Cuddle
Being a Teddy Bear Dealer, you would be amazed at the questions you get asked. Some of the most common questions are, “What is the best Teddy Bear to buy as an investment?” “What is the best Teddy Bear to buy for a child?” “How Much is my Teddy Bear worth?” and “How old is my Teddy Bear?”
Another question which I get asked quite often is “Which is the best Teddy Bear to cuddle?” Now this question which interestingly is asked more by adults than children , is a particularly hard question to answer.
Before we carry on further, I must state that ALL Teddy Bears were made to be cuddled, that is providing they are not made of ceramic, glass, metal or a piece of jewellery or for use as an ornament. It is the reason why the Teddy Bear was invented in the first place, to bring physical love to both children and adults alike, in the form of cuddles, as until he was invented way back in 1902, there was no toys suitable for children (or adults) to cuddle. All bears being made out of wood and even metal. It was discovered by Richard Steiff that children had toy bears, but not bears which they could hold in their arms, there were bears which were put onto wheels which were made out of much softer materials, but still they could not be cuddled. Until thankfully, Richard Steiff came up with good old Teddy.
So, asking me which is the best Teddy Bear to cuddle, is a bit of a tricky question. As Ginos Bears is primarily an Old and Antique Teddy Bear business, some of our Old Bears have already had a lifetime of cuddles or more and so they are rather old, worn and some are very fragile, so it is a little harder shall we say to cuddle these Old Bears. They still need to be loved, held, touched and most important of all to be talked to, but rather than offer bedtime cuddles, they offer history and wisdom. These Old Bears would prefer to sit by your bed at night and quietly read a book on honey for example, or sit down on a Sunday afternoon and listen to music with you.
Many Old Bears remain strong however, and although a little fragile still have many cuddles left in their furry bodies (or maybe bald bodies). It really does depend on the life the Teddy Bear has had previously and of course, how old he is in the first place.
The Old Bears that we supply at Ginos Bears like to offer their love by accompanying their human friends on travels, by sitting on a cold winter’s day by the fireside and listening to their owners tales of years gone by.
If you are looking to a Teddy Bear that you can take to bed with you and please don’t forget you should not be embarrassed at all about sleeping with your Teddy Bear, as thousands of adults the whole world over does, then perhaps a newer Teddy Bear is the answer, or an Old Bear that is not too worn.
